Validator
The eGov signature validator of the Federal Administration (Validator) was developed and made available by the Federal Office of Justice in 2008 in connection with the introduction of electronically signed extracts from the register of convictions. The Validator service operated by the Swiss federal government is intended to strengthen trust in electronically signed documents by allowing their authenticity and the validity of the signature to be easily checked in accordance with Swiss law.
Discreet Validator
Report new root certificates
The Swiss Government PKI (SG-PKI) needs to be notified of new certificates (root, issuing and time-stamping) so that the eGov signature validator can provide correct verification results.
Report new document-specific certificates
The Swiss Government PKI (SG-PKI) needs to be notified of new document-specific certificates (e.g. for criminal records excerpt) so that the eGov signature validator can provide correct verification results.
Validating electronic documents
The creation and validation of electronic copies of notarised documents is precisely regulated in the Ordinance on the Creation of Electronic Public Deeds and Electronic Certifications (EPAO; 211.435.1) and the FDJP's Ordinance on the Creation of Electronic Public Deeds and Electronic Certifications (EPAO-FDJP, SR 211.435.11). These ordinances constitute the legal basis of the Validator.
